We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Server to join the team in our popular fast-paced Japanese restaurant. The ideal candidate is a team player and possesses exceptional customer service skills, has a strong background in food service management, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our guests have an outstanding dining experience, mentoring new and existing service staff, and defining and optimizing processes for exceptional customer satisfaction and efficient operations.

This is role and ideal for someone with several years of food service experience and interested in a future career in the hospitality industry or restaurant management/ownership.

Initially part time but will expand to full time with sales growth.

Responsibilities

Oversee and participate in daily operations of the dining room, ensuring high standards of guest satisfaction, overall service, cleanliness and adherence to food safety standards.
Delight customers by providing outstanding service throughout their dining experience. Address guest inquiries and resolve any issues promptly.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and presentation.
Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and engagement.
Help implement training programs for new hires on restaurant policies, procedures, and best practices.
Optimize and refine Toast POS organization and usage for order entry.
Check in guests via OpenTable and attend to reservation details as needed.
Manage service operations for special banquets and events.
Qualifications

Proven experience in a fast paced restaurant with a strong understanding of food service operations and food safety regulations.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment. Dedication to processes, continuous improvement and efficiency.
Strong sales skills with a focus on upselling menu items to enhance guest experiences.
Exceptional customer service orientation with a friendly demeanor and ability to build rapport with guests and handle challenging situations gracefully.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, work with and manage a diverse team.
Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, especially sushi, sake and beers.
Familiarity with DoorDash and OpenTable beneficial.
Previous bartending experience a plus.
Availability on weekends and weekday days.
